After five successful years Jonas Bauer has chosen to leave Vasaloppet to take up a new position as destination manager for SkiStar/Sälen and to be part of SkiStar’s group management.
“It is with mixed feelings that I now choose to leave Vasaloppet for an assignment within the SkiStar group. It feels though that this is the right point for a new force to take Vasaloppet further into the next phase, together with the marvellous staff who know how an operation at this level should be run. I can only wish Vasaloppet all good fortune and a continuing positive development towards new goals,” summarises the departing CEO Jonas Bauer.
We begin immediately a recruiting process to find a successor, whom we hope can be in place when Jonas leaves Vasaloppet September 1.”
“I’ve had five totally fantastic years with Vasaloppet and have been part of an almost unbelievable development,” says Jonas.
During his time as CEO Jonas Bauer has led the operations from having been an arranger of ski races, to an all year round organiser with new races in running and cycling. The Vasaloppet trade mark is today perhaps Sweden’s strongest within physical exercise and health care. The development has gone from having around 45,000 participants per year to over 80,000 estimated participants in 2012.
The Boards, with chairmen Sven von Holst (Vasaloppets Marknads AB) and Ulf Hållmarker (Vasaloppsföreningen Sälen-Mora), comment:
“Jonas Bauer has done a fantastic and totally professional job with Vasaloppet which is today stronger than ever before. Jonas is a complete and extremely competent leader. We think that it’s a pity for Vasaloppet’s part, but we are extremely grateful for the five years that Jonas has led Vasaloppet, and we wish him all the best in his new work. We have every reason to try to link Jonas to us in some voluntary basis in one form or another.
